MACROS, CALORIES, TRACKING, DIETS.....

Macros, calories, tracking, diets.... one of my commonly asked questions is what do I eat and how much?! The answer to this changes based on my goals, how I’m feeling and my current situation.

My answer to this question is NOT the right answer for you.

Everyone requires a different magic number of “calories” and their macro spilt is based on their specific goals and their individual body’s requirements to perform and simply live. A pregnant woman requires a small increase to their daily maintenance calories (calories they need to function each day and maintain current body composition) as their bodies are working harder to provide nutritional support to develop and nourish their bumps.

My current answer to this question would be... I eat a variety of locally sourced fresh produce and meats with each meal. I listen to my body, if I’m feeling tired, lacking energy, or feeling fabulous, I acknowledge what I’ve eaten to feel this way and use this information to make the right food choices. I understand that my body needs all the macronutrients proteins, fats and carbohydrates to function and provide me with the energy I need to fuel my day, body and bump. If I’m going out for dinner I’ll make my other choices throughout the day reflect this, wether that be smaller portions or less carbs if I plan on demolishing a whole PIZZA that night. We place too much expectation, guilt and stress on ourselves to follow the latest diets, fads, trends, count calories or eat a specific way... we need to listen to our bodies and make food choices that nourish and fuel leaving us feeling fabulous!

Yesterday I chose to eat this mouth watering vegan gelato.... find balance and nourish your body and your bumps mammas! If your wanting to work out your macros their are loads of online calculators to do this but I would personally seek advice from a professional nutritionist to guide you on this.
